There are some ideas to keep you safe while cycling. Take the time to review and teach injury prevention. Trauma is a main cause of death in children, adolescents and young adults, and head injuries from bicycle accidents are very common.
1. Always wear a well-fitting helmet when cycling. The straps must be attached.
2. Do not use headphones while driving. This may prevent you from hearing car horns.
3. Children under the age of 10 are allowed to drive on the sidewalk and are never allowed to drive at night. Older children should drive with the traffic flow on the right side of the road. Go in a single line and stay near the sidewalk. Only ride your bike with the right lights and reflectors on at night so others can see you.
