Government Jet Airways 2.0. granted security clearance

The Ministry of Interior has given the nod to the new promoters of Jet Airways to resume commercial operations in the country.

The Jalan-Kalrock consortium is currently the promoter of Jet Airways. The airline was owned by Naresh Goyal and operated its last flight on April 17, 2019.

Jet Airways 2.0 plans to resume commercial flight operations in the coming months. The airline operated a Hyderabad-Delhi positioning ferry flight on 5 May. This was its first flight since 2019, when it ceased operations following the bankruptcy.

After the successful test flight, the CEO of Jet Airways 2.0 said that it was a very emotional moment for the entire Jet Airways family.

Indian Air Force Rs. 35,000 crore plan to upgrade Sukhoi-30 fighter fleet shelved

The IAF's plans to upgrade its Su-30 MKI fighter jet fleet are currently on hold amid the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

Agreement for 12 most advanced Sukhoi-30 MKI aircraft worth more than Rs. 20,000 crore will also be delayed as stakeholders will have to add more India-made material to planes as per the current government policy.

The Indian Air Force, in collaboration with Russia and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, plans to upgrade 85 of its aircraft to the latest standards.

The plan was to equip the Sukhoi-30 aircraft with more powerful radars and the latest electronic warfare capabilities.

Adani Group bags franchise in upcoming UAE T20 league

India's Adani Sportsline, part of the Adani Group, made a historic foray into franchising cricket by acquiring the rights to own and operate franchises in the UAE's premier T20 league.

The UAE T20 League, licensed by the Emirates Cricket Board, is an annual event where all six franchise teams will compete in 34 matches.

The best players from all the cricket-playing nations are expected to line up with different teams for the tournament.

The UAE League will also provide a platform and experience to the upcoming young cricketers.

Justice JB Pardiwala and Justice Sudhanshu Dhulia were sworn in as Supreme Court Justices

Chief Justice of India NV Ramana administered the oath of office to Justice Sudhanshu Dhulia and Justice JP Pardiwala as Supreme Court judges.

After the appointment of two judges, the High Court will now function with its full strength of 34.

The Supreme Court College, headed by CJI NV Ramana, had earlier recommended to the Central government the promotion of Justices Dhulia and Pardiwala for appointment as senior judges of the court.

Judge Dhulia is the second, elevated judge of the Uttarakhand High Court. Judge Dhulia hails from Madanpur, a remote village in the Pauri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand.

The Ministers discussed preparations for the historic visit of President Ram Nath Kovind to Jamaica.

The Secretary of State was also informed of Smith's candidacy for Secretary-General of the Commonwealth.
