Sandhan valley is an offbeat weekend getaway from Mumbai. It is the 3rd deepest valley in Aisa, and one of the greatest canyons in Sahyadri mountain range, which is located at the border of Ahemadnagar, Pune and Kalyan district near Bhandardara dam and Ratangad fort and also called as the “Valley of shadow” because it is around 300ft deep with 300ft rock walls on both sides, there are many points where sunlight can not reach and hence the Sandhan valley is also known as “valley of shadows”.

Places to visit nearby Sandhan Valley:-

  • Bhandardara – This is an amazing place for camping and enjoying with friends. It is less crowded compared to other hill stations in Maharashtra. Bhandardara is known for the Wilson Dam built on the Arthur Lake. The view of the surrounding is very beautiful during the Monsoon season and after the monsoon season when the dam is fully filled with water, the mountains are surrounded by the clouds.
  • Randha waterfalls is also a good option to visit, it’s a big waterfall and best in monsoon season when it’s fully filled with water. It’s about 5 Kms away from Bhandardara dam.
    • Amruteshwar temple – is an 11th century Shiva Temple in the village of Ratanwadi, its nearby Ratangad trek.
