In our daily life, we have become so habitual to technology that we don’t even put an effort to think about how it is harming us. Technology is something we have created and it is causing serious issues all over the world. Here are some methods to get rid of Digital Detox.

We have made so many things for our convenience that we often forget that we need ourselves to solve our problems. We rely on technology so much that we don’t even try to find a solution manually.

If we’re bored, we’ll go and check Instagram. If we’re tired, we’ll binge-watch a show on Netflix. These have become the ways of escaping reality for all the people these days.

Being close to technology is harming us in several ways. It causes damage to the eyes and does the worst effect on our sleep. One can’t even sleep without listening to calm music anymore.

We find ourselves using mobiles or tv at any time we are with our families or our friends. We make plans for movies and game zones instead of going out in the countryside and having some chill time with our friends.

As we often don’t realize these things because our life is going smooth. But it is really a big issue for our greater future. It is time that we sit back and think about this issue.

If not much, then we can always try and start by little. We don’t need to give up on all the technology around us at once. But we can try and make little changes by avoiding it as much as we can.

It is time that we detox ourselves from technology and have some good quality time with ourselves and our friends.

Start your day right:

The major mistake we do with ourselves is that we start our day by looking at our phone screens and going through our social media. Checking our mobile phones is the first thing we do when we open our eyes. Do you really think it is an ideal way to start our day?

Well, you can always improve this issue. Try and avoid using a mobile phone when you wake up. Instead, go and freshen up first. And then do some meditation.

Meditation can help you a lot throughout your whole day and it will definitely benefit you in the long run. This is the first step we can take in our Digital Detox.

Physical alarm clocks instead of mobile phones: Digital Detox

We can always invest in a good physical alarm clock when it comes to waking up in the morning. When we put an alarm on our mobile phone, the first thing that wakes us up in the morning will be our phone itself.

It is better to have a proper alarm clock to avoid using a mobile phone first thing in the morning. Plus the physical clocks can also add to the aesthetics of your bedroom.

Physical books instead of kindle or audiobooks: Digital Detox

If you are a bookworm, then I bet physical books are your favorite kind of books. But there are several people who use kindle and audiobooks instead of physical books. This only increases your screen time in a day even when you are adopting a very good hobby.

Reading physical books will give you the feels you can’t have from kindle. Go for more physical books and less of digital ones. This is a very easy step towards Digital Detox.

Put down your phone while talking to anyone:

Using your phone while talking to someone is considered to be bad manners. We all should really try and make the habit of putting down our phones while we are talking to anyone. Whether it be our friends, family or colleagues. This little thing can bring a vast difference in your screen time.

Use apps that help in Digital Detox

Yes, technology to control the use of technology. Well, it is not something really ideal but it can help you in achieving your Digital Detox goals a lot. There are several apps you can use to track your screen time during the whole day.

These apps will show you how much time you have spent on your mobile phone and doing what. This way you can track and decrease your use of technology in a very efficient way.

Shut down your data when you are outside:

While you’re outside for any work or just chilling with friends, try and shut down your mobile data for that time. This will help you decrease your screen time and your mobile bill too.

Take a book with you while traveling so that you can pass your time on flights or trains. Or keep a journal with you. You can write down everything you feel like in the journal. Trips are more fun when you are away from your mobile phones and social media.

Be more social but not on social media:

This is a very important thing we all need to learn at this time of our lives. We have become really anti-social and on the other hand, we are using more and more social media.

Social media is a great way to connect with people all around the world but have you ever tried to sit and talk with your friends instead of chatting with them? Meeting your friends or family in person and having a talk with them will feel a lot more real and fun instead of chatting with them on Instagram or WhatsApp.

No work on the bed:

It is as important to end your day without social media as it is to start your day without it. Make a rule for you and all your family members that no one takes their work to the bed.

This habit benefits everyone in several ways. We can have a chat about how our day went with our loved ones at the end of the day. Or we can just relax and sleep. Having worked on the bed will make you stressful and you won’t be able to sleep peacefully.

The bed is made for resting and if you take your work on the bed, it will lose the effect of relaxing you in the long run. So make sure you do not take your work to the bed and make time for yourself and your family.
