1. Can you please tell us a little bit about yourself and your Blog?
I am an Engineer with Post Graduation in Fashion Technology. I am pursing a career as a Merchandiser in Delhi. My Partner Lakshmi is self employed as a Freelance Article Writer. The Blog www.realbharat.org is the brain child of both of us.
2. What did you do before Blogging? What inspired you to start blogging?
I was working part time as a Freelancer with Freelancer.com when I was doing my Engineering. While working I met one lady Ms. Lakshmi from Bangalore who started as a writer with me. Ms. Lakshmi wanted to work during her free time. Our common interest was travel and love for Indian food brought www.realbharat.org came into existence.
3. As a blogger, what are the challenges you face? How you overcome it?
Writing travelogue was a big challenge. Because some places were over-rated than what they actually are and some are under-rated though they are really good. Finding out the reality and presenting the truth to the readers was a big challenge. We overcame it by writing our personal experiences and finding writers with personal experience. We made it a habit to talk to local people, travel guides, hotel owners etc. to find out the reality.
Additionally, finding a real place of an authentic recipe is sometimes a very tedious task, as in India, for 1 dish we have more than 20 versions of the same which depends on local flavor and the way of cooking. So finding the roots of the same and compiling all versions in an article is very challenging.
4. What would you consider to be your biggest achievement in your journey so far as a Blogger?
There are a lot of small, small achievements we have climbed during our journey of 6 years. We have received a lot of appreciation from travelers, foodies, etc. But, achieving a regular organic search of 500 daily was one of the biggest achievement till now.
5. Have you worked/collaborate with brands? If yes, name few brands you worked with
Yes, we worked with some of the brands in the past. Recently we were approached by Cleartrip for a small collaboration. Additionally, we are in discussion with a clothing brand for promotions, hopefully we will finalize the same by this month's end. Stay tuned with us, as we are planning a small competition on the same and a lot of free sweatshirts and T-shirts on the table to be grabbed.
6. What is your primary income source?
My job is as a Production Merchandiser in a company is the main source of income for me and for Ms. Lakshmi Freelance writing is the main source of income.
7. Top 3 Blogging tools that you would recommend to your readers?
For blogging, Wordpress is no doubt the best blogging tool. We also use Semrush to monitor the data inflow and reports. Additionally, I love skillinfinity to meet like minded bloggers.
8. One piece of advice that you would like to share with all new bloggers?
Blogging is fun if you enjoy it. It is a slow process, don’t expect results overnight. Just follow your passion and keep writing your experiences, gradually you will earn respect and recognition from your readers.
9. Finally, what are your thoughts about IndiBlogHub?
Skillinfinity is a great tool for meeting like minded bloggers. Till now the journey with Skillinfinity family was good, but i think Rahul can also think of organizing some local Meetups or small trips in various parts of India. As I feel a lot of people like us would like to meet and share ideas in real, instead of typing in front of screens. :)
