Interview with Mohammad Athar from Explore Keywords

1. Can you please tell us a little bit about yourself and your Blog?

I'm Mohammad Athar from Jammu & Kashmir. I started my blogging career in 2016 and now I manage 4 websites with combined traffic of more than 1.5 Million a month.

2. What did you do before Blogging? What inspired you to start blogging?

In 2016, I took admission for Masters Course (English Literature) in Jamia Millia Islamia. Except me, all other students were from B.A. Hons (English). I was the only one with a simple B.A. degree and no knowledge of English Literature. During the classes, I faced a lot of problems as I did not know the basics of Literature. The content available on internet was either too difficult or too irrelevant.

I got an idea to learn the literature by myself and publish notes on my website. My first website was articlesjar.com. Within 6 months, I was able to reach 30k page views a month. I soon applied for Ezoic (which I happened to come across while browsing). With Ezoic, I was able to earn around $30 a month.

I invested that money and hired a content writer. In a few months, I reached 200k views a month. I noticed that, the name articlesjar does not represent my niche. So, I bought englishsummary.com. A year later, I also bought englishnotes.com, a premium domain (I had to pay around 1 Lakh for it). Till March 2020, I reached 1.3 Million hits a month. During COVID times, the page views as well as the revenue went down. So I thought of having a backup plan. With the help of my developers, we launched a free keyword research tools website explorekeywords.com. Today, I have a team of 10 people and we all are working day and night to dominate the internet with our matchless content and tools.

3. As a blogger, what are the challenges you face? How you overcome it?

Well, I love challenges. Often the site goes down due to several reasons. Debugging those issues help me learn new things. Though I have no coding knowledge, I am well aware of CSS which I learnt by hit and trail method.

Currently, I am practicing to create better videos. Hope that, I will be able to achieve my goal soon.

4. What would you consider to be your biggest achievement in your journey so far as a Blogger?

When we start blogging, the most important thing is "Keyword Research". Unfortunately, most of the tools available in the market are either paid or lack features. AnswerThePublic which was initially free is paid now.

Almost all bloggers like me need keywords data but they can't afford hefty fee. So, I took this demand as an opportunity and launched a forever free keyword research tools website explorekeywords.com which I consider my biggest achievement.

Not only thing, we have also launched a set of 12 educational tools on English Summary.

5. Have you worked/collaborate with brands? If yes, name few brands you worked with

No, I haven't done that so far. However, I hope that in future we will do collaborate with brands

6. What is your primary income source?

There are multiple sources of my income which include
1. Google Admanager (also known as DFP)
2. Direct Ads (using adclerks)
3. Guest Posts

7. Top 3 Blogging tools that you would recommend to your readers?

1. ExploreKeywords.com, Google Search Console, Bing Webmasters and Data from Search Results Page
2. Canva
3. SEOToolsAdda

8. One piece of advice that you would like to share with all new bloggers?

I always recommend the bloggers to avoid technical things like backlinking, KGR, and like things. Always focus on a single niche which is not saturated. You must have expertise of this niche and make content strategy first and then go for keyword research. Those who are new and confused about blogging and reach out to me for a free consultation on atharmalik.in

9. Finally, what are your thoughts about IndiBlogHub?

IndiBlogHub is an awesome platform. I love it. However, I think there is lot to improve. The social section does not appear to be engaging. The team must work on to begin some weekly sessions, meetups, and like events in order to bring more engagement. You should conduct live interviews on YouTube so that we may be able to know other bloggers.

There should be some points and grade system to reward users to engage a lot. there should be blue tick and other badges for outstanding members.
