Interview with Swarupa : Founder of The Fashion and City, a Fashion Blog

1. Can you please tell us a little bit about yourself and your Blog?

Hey folks!! I am Swarupa, a fashion and lifestyle blogger based out in Chennai. Apart from being a crazy trend follower, I do have a keen taste for interior designing which also is a part of my blog.

With a loving and all supporting husband that never denies when asked for help is also the photographer for the blog. Do check out my posts and be in touch with latest trends @The Fashion and City

2. What did you do before Blogging? What inspired you to start blogging?

I was and still am an SEO Executive working for a leading fashion jeweler. I was introduced to the world of blogging through my job. Though I did forever wanted to share my fashion thoughts my blogging knowledge was limited. Finally, I kick started after gaining enough familiarity and understanding.

The time Limitation is a factor due to which I am not able to share the entirety of my thoughts but yet I do try my best. I will further be allocating a greater amount of time in the near future.

3. As a blogger, what are the challenges you face? How you overcome it?

Considering that the blog started just last August and hasn’t turner a year old either, the love I receive currently is paramount.

The largest challenge according to me is posting content that my followers love and engage with. Being in the field of Digital Marketing it is a given that my expectation in increasing the visitors count is high too. Giving out desired content that satisfies both the reader and I will always be the top priority and the greatest challenge too.

4. What would you consider to be your biggest achievement in your journey so far as a Blogger?

The initiation in itself is a huge achievement for me and the continuity is definitely a plus. But a significant achievement is yet to be made and I surely am looking forward.

5. Have you worked/collaborate with brands? If yes, name few brands you worked with

Quiet the reversal in my case though! Being a newcomer I haven’t had any chance to work with brands but have collaborated with few websites and fellow fashion bloggers.
Though I have worked with quite a few bloggers representing ‘CaratLane’, where I currently work.

6. What is your primary income source?

My Job! The blog is a showcase of my journey with fashion and will always be. The income I receive from the blog though isn’t lucrative, is very dear. For me to continue what I love doing, a primary source is an essential.

7. Top 3 Blogging tools that you would recommend to your readers?

Firstly, Wordpress! Not all writers are website developers and for a quick and easy start I would recommend wordpress.

Then comes Google Analytics. Getting to know the number of readers is a natural boost for bloggers all over the globe to continue further and with the insights I receive from analytics is huge.

Finally, Social Media. Though this isn’t a tool per se, the significance is huuuuuuge and needs no elaboration.

8. One piece of advice that you would like to share with all new bloggers?

Though I don’t remember the source, I came across an honest piece of advice that goes something like this, "Remember, you are a blogger, not a celebrity!!" So be humble to everyone and that’s what finally matters.

9. Finally, what are your thoughts about IndiBlogHub?

Skill Infinity!! This is the first ever platform I submitted my blog to. The restriction I came across various platforms for beginners was really a disappointment and Skill Infinity to not have any restrictions was really helpful.

This platform also served as a medium for me to come across and befriend a lot of like minded people
