We've put up a list of a few of the most frequent errors which numerous individuals make year after year below so that we may become aware of them, guard against them, and stop ourselves from committing them. Insha Allah, in this way, our Hajj and our umrah flight are going to be more pleasing to Allah ﷻ and closer to the Sunnah.
Mistakes #1: "Kissing" The Black Stone From A Distance And Pausing In The Middle Of The Tawaaf
It is truly an honour for someone who may embrace the black stone; it is a lovely Sunnah. But a great deal of individuals are unable to get there because of the thick crowds. It is not doable at all. Thus, many attempt to "kiss" it from a distance. They halt abruptly in mid-tawaaf when they approach the black stone, turn to face it, place both hands on either side of their heads, and give it a "kiss" in midair, as though it were in the path of them. Alternately, they kiss their hands before they "throw" those kisses towards the black stone, akin to "flying kisses" from a distance.
Furthermore, their sudden stops and motionlessness in the centre of the tawaif disrupt its flow, lead to needless congestion there, and cause great trouble with their fellow Haajis. None of this comes from the Sunnah. When performing tawaaf, the Prophet (Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa sallam) only kissed the black stone when it became easy for him to do so, or he touched it with his hand and kissed it. However, all he did whenever there was a mob was a gesture towards it and utter "Allaahu Akbar" from a distance. Is that all?
Mistakes # 2. Believing That A Dua Will Be Accepted Upon First Viewing The Ka'bah:
Many individuals mistakenly believe that when they first see the Ka'bah, their prayers will undoubtedly be answered. It is untrue since the Shari'ah provides no supporting proof. And every 'hadeeth' you come across on this subject is either incredibly flimsy or made up. chanting the Du'a together
Mistakes # 3: Chanting The Du'a Aloud Together
During Tawaf, certain individuals yell at the top of their lungs in unison as they perform du'a. They adhere to a leader or imam who recites several du'as publicly, and his followers subsequently follow suit in synchrony. Many people are confused and disturbed, which leads them to lose their focus and Khushoo' when they are reciting their own Du'as. Furthermore, it goes without saying that in a location as holy as the Haram, shouting and raising one's voice is inappropriate.
This is appropriate to be aware of the Du'as you wish to make, the Qur'an you wish to recite, etc. before proceeding with Tawaf. In this manner, you are going to be creating your own Du'a from the bottom of your heart, in the language of your choice, without having to follow anyone else. You'll be able to concentrate and feel satisfied better. Prepare your du'as in advance and repeat them to yourself while remaining humble and Khushoo'. You are, after all, offering a du'a to the All-Seeing, All-Hearing One.
Mistakes # 4: Assigning Certain Du'as For Particular Rounds
Certain Du'as are designated by some individuals for every round, and some books contain specific Du'as written for every round. This is not a Shariah-based statement. Neither the Prophet (Peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) nor his companions recited any particular Du'a during any of the rounds. Had it existed, he could have informed us about it and would've taken the initiative to do so first.
Mistakes # 5: Several Umrahs
After completing their personal Umrah, certain individuals perform multiples, leaving Makkah to proceed to Masjid Ayesha (Tan'eem) or other Meeqat locations to don fresh Ihrams and repeat the Umrahs. Some individuals perform one or more Umrahs each day! That is not in line with the Sunnah or the Sahabah's practises. Had performing numerous Umrahs in a single journey been beneficial, both the Prophet (Peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) & the Sahabah could have done so. However, we also find that even though the Prophet (Peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) spent 19 days in Makkah following the Conquest, he failed to, despite having the option, depart Makkah to perform Umrah.
Mistakes # 5: Executing Tawaf On Another Person's Behalf
A lot of individuals commit this error. They complete seven rounds around the Ka'bah before giving their share of this Tawaf to departed family members, loved ones, or relatives. Additionally, friends and family expressly ask individuals to “do one Tawaf on their behalf” when they travel for the Hajj or Umrah. There can be no proof that this is acceptable, hence it is not valid.
Final Words
A pleasant and psychologically gratifying Umrah depends on being aware of and preventing frequent pitfalls. Pilgrims can ensure a more fulfilling and error-free Umrah encounter by making comprehensive preparations, acquiring expertise, and keeping aware of their actions and intentions.
