Credit Card for Indians: Best Credit Card for Cashback (2025)

Did you know you're losing thousands of rupees every month without even realizing it. While you diligently track your expenses and budget carefully, your credit card strategy is bleeding money through suboptimal reward rates and mismatched spending patterns.
Consider this: if you're spending ₹1 lakh monthly with a typical mixed spending pattern some percent on shopping, travel, dining, and bills), a poorly chosen single credit card earning just 1-2% might give you ₹1,000-2,000 cashback. Meanwhile, a strategic multi-card approach could deliver ₹5,750+ monthly—that's ₹45,000+ extra per year just for using the right cards. Every month you delay optimizing your card stack, you're essentially throwing away ₹3,000-4,000 that should be in your pocket.
What did I find out? The Jupiter Edge+ anchored strategy eliminates this wealth leak entirely. By leveraging Edge+'s exceptional 10% shopping rewards (spread merchants) and 5% travel benefits as your foundation, then strategically layering SBI Cashback, Amazon ICICI, or Tata Neu cards based on your specific merchant preferences, you can achieve 5.75%+ effective returns even at ₹1L monthly spend—turning your necessary expenses into a powerful wealth-building tool.
Why Jupiter’s Edge+ should be your choice
Make Edge+ your primary card: 10% on Shopping (till ₹1,500/month on spread merchants) + 5% on Travel (till ₹1,000/month) delivers outsized returns at typical budgets.
Then stack smartly based on other credit cards
You can route remaining online spend to SBI Cashback 5% (till ₹5,000). Or, if your Shopping is Amazon-heavy → add Amazon ICICI (Prime 5%). If you’re Tata Neu-heavy → tap Tata Neu HDFC 5% at Tata brands. For offline/QR → use Jupiter Edge+ UPI 2%.
With your split, an all-online, Edge+-anchored stack yields up to ₹5,750 at ₹1L/month (5.75%)—higher than any single card cap in your table.

How did I calculate these rewards?
Your category mix would be somewhat like this: Shopping 45- 50%, Travel 22-25%, Dining 12-15%, Bills 16-20%.
I always fill the highest % card first until its cap, then overflow to the next best (exactly as in your table).
Two realities covered: All-online and a Mixed online/offline scenario.
All numbers come straight from your table’s caps/percentages.
Scenario A — All spends online (Edge+ anchor → SBI 5% overflow)

Why Edge+ wins here: Your Shopping chunk alone (50%) hits the ₹1,500 cap by ₹30k total spend, and Travel adds up to ₹1,000 more. SBI 5% mops up the rest online—you don’t even touch Axis 5% within ₹1L on this mix because SBI hasn’t hit its own cap.
Scenario B — Mixed reality (Edge UPI for offline)
Assumption: Shopping 70% online, Travel 80% online, Dining 30% online, Bills 100% online. Offline/QR goes to Edge UPI 2%.

Takeaway: Even with offline leakage, Edge+ stays the engine. Edge UPI 2% comfortably beats 0.75 to1% offline options in your table.

While Edge+ dominates most scenarios, certain spending patterns make alternative strategies superior:
High Single-Merchant Concentration: If 80%+ of your shopping happens at a single merchant (like Amazon), Edge+'s spread-merchant 10% reward drops to a ₹500-capped single-merchant rate. In this case, starting with Amazon ICICI Prime (5% uncapped on Amazon) as your shopping anchor makes more sense.
But, how much of your spend is just on Amazon, or Flipkart or Myntra, or Shopper’s Stop? So I considered a mix and Jupiter Edge+ clearly dominates in cashbacks.
Edge+ Shopping 10% (multiple merchants) beats 5% cards up to ₹30k total (you hit the ₹1,500 cap at that point).
Edge+ Travel 5% equals Scapia 4% at ₹25k travel (Edge+ hits ₹1,000 cap there). Beyond that, Scapia 4% can out-earn on travel alone, but your overall stack with SBI 5% still may dominate.
SBI 5% vs Axis 5% (online): with this mix, SBI doesn’t hit its ₹5k cap even at ₹1L, so Axis’s ₹4k-cap tier never gets used.
What should YOU carry? (Edge+ & Other Credit Cards)
Minimalist (2 cards):Edge+ & SBI 5%. Great if Shopping is spread across multiple merchants and you mostly pay online.
Amazon-heavy:Edge+ (Travel 5% + general engine) → Amazon ICICI (Prime 5%) for Shopping.
Tata Neu-heavy:Edge+ & Tata Neu HDFC 5% for Tata brands; keep SBI 5% for non-Tata online.
Frequent offline/QR:Edge+ (use Edge UPI 2% for QR), then SBI 5% for the online pieces.
Travel spikes >₹25k/month: Keep Edge+ for the first ₹20k (5% = ₹1,000), then consider Scapia 4% for the travel overflow only if SBI 5% headroom is already consumed by other online categories.
Quick Notes:
Spread vs single merchant on Edge+ Shopping: Our table differentiates them. The 10% ₹1,500 magic happens when Shopping is spread across multiple merchants. If single-merchant, the ₹500 cap applies—plan your routes accordingly.
Caps are king: All choices above strictly follow the caps/values in the table above. If your real-world merchants are excluded by a bank’s T&Cs, treat those spends as lower-earning.
Dining/Bills: In your table, these are modeled as “all online → 5% via SBI.” If some of your Dining is offline, push it to Edge+’s UPI 2% instead.
