Three luxury interior designers in Bangalore were asked to share their thoughts on the bedroom trends for 2024.
The trend of bringing nature into the bedroom by using natural materials has been growing.
Designers said that minimalism and white bedrooms are on the way out.
Business Insider asked interior decorators what will be in and out of style for bedrooms next year.
What they said.
The biophilic design trend is gaining momentum.
According to James Stanley, principal design and founder of James Stanley NY, bringing the outdoors into the bedroom is a growing trend.
The trend of biophilic design, which includes natural light, greenery and water elements, has been very popular in the past couple of years. It's expected to continue into 2024.
The designer told BI that "connectivity to nature, especially in the bedroom, creates a peaceful calming atmosphere where we can recharge and relax."
Bed skirts have made a huge comeback.
David Samuel Ko, founder of Maison Ko and , says that 2024 will see a trend toward a more classic style.
He told BI that bed skirts were next in line. "It adds a layer to your bedroom, which is missing from normal upholstered beds."
Wood and other natural materials will be in high demand by 2024.
Stanley says that natural materials will be popular in the bedroom.
The bedroom can be given a warm, earthy look by using woven fabrics, raw wood, and rattan.
Designers say that "Surrounding your home with natural elements not only helps the environment, but also adds to your peace of mind and well-being."
A fully wallpapered bedroom can add a lot to the personality of a room.
Wallpaper is a great way to bring personality into your bedroom.
Ko told BI, "I see a lot more bedrooms with wallpaper again." "I'm not just talking about grasscloth, I'm talking about patterns that are more ornate."
Next year, local artwork will be the trend.
Stanley says to forget about the oversaturated, mass-produced pieces of art that we see everywhere.
The designer told BI that "in 2024, there will be a move to more locally sourced, artisan artworks that are truly connected to the homeowner, their needs, and style."
Fabric headboards instantly elevate any space.
Cherie Lee, director of Cherie Lee Interiors and interior designer, says that we'll see a lot more fabric headboards that extend well beyond the length of the mattress.
"They create drama, impact and instantly elevate a bedroom to make it feel luxurious and cozy," said she.
Smart technology is becoming more popular in the bedroom.
Stanley says that with the advancements of smart technology, it is a no brainer that this trend will be integrated into our bedroom.
Smart bedroom technology will be on the rise by 2024, from automated window treatments to climate control and lighting.
We'll see a lot of patterned bed linens.
Ko said that patterns will be a big thing in bedding next year.
The designer told BI that we will see more prints on neutral-toned bedding, whether it is on a bed blanket, throw blanket or sheets.
On the other hand minimalism has reached its limit.
From geometric patterns to abstraction shapes, minimalism is a trend that's fading.
Stanley told BI that 2024 will be all about organic, fluid patterns and the integration of botanical prints.
These designs are inspired by nature and look tranquil and peaceful. They can also add Zen to your space.
Bedrooms with white walls are often bland.
Stanley said, "I have painted my bedrooms white for many years." "While I still mix shades of whites in bedrooms, it's time to move on."
In 2024 you can expect more color, as well as deeper, richer tones which add a personal touch.
Curtains are replacing shutters.
Lee says that shutters are not always effective at blocking light, even though they look beautiful and work well in tropical climates.
The designer said that curtains give a room a more cozy feel and, with rising energy prices, people are happy to take advantage of the thermal insulation provided by curtains.
The industrial bedroom trend must be put to rest.
Stanley says it's now time to retire the industrial chic elements that have been popular for years.
He told BI that "the exposed brick walls with open ductwork, metal finishes and concrete floors are no longer in fashion."
Trends for 2024 will likely be earthy, natural and soothing.
Silk bed sheets have been replaced by luxurious bed linens.
According to Lee, people are now choosing luxurious, cozy bed linens instead of silk.
The designer told BI that the hats aren't very practical and initially feel quite cool, which isn't particularly inviting on cold winter nights.
She said that adding more fabrics to your bedroom will also add texture and style.
