Rules for Playing the No-Network Dinosaur Game for Google Chrome

If your internet went down and you attempted to access a website, Chrome would display the message "Unable to connect to the Internet" or "No internet" beside a small pixilated dinosaur. This was a cute little Easter egg that Google included in Chrome a few years back.

No internet, according to dinosaur game today.

While their connection was down, many likely simply thought the dinosaur was a lovely little emblem. However, the space bar was subsequently pressed. Even the dinosaur began to sprint.

An adored game has grown out of this diminutive Easter egg. But suppose you're just looking for a quick online diversion and would want to play it (warning: it's addictive)? Whether you like to play online or offline, this article will teach you the ropes.

Offline gameplay instructions for Chrome Dino and Trex

Simply launch Chrome if you encounter an internet outage. Feel free to try visiting any web page while you're already in Chrome. The error notice will be accompanied by that small dinosaur.

At the touch of a button, the dinosaur will begin to sprint. To leap over cacti and other obstacles, press the up arrow. You may control the height of the dinosaur's jump by holding down the up arrow.

To get under an object, use the down arrow.

Dinosaurs and the ground speed up as the game progresses. You lose the game and have to start again after you hit an obstacle; your score is also reset. Resuming play is as simple as pressing the space bar.

The good news is that you can occupy yourself with this activity until your internet connection returns. But suppose you're interested in playing it online. It can be done in a few different ways.

To play the game online, the simplest way is to go to this URL: ://dino/. In a jiffy, you may access the "no internet" notice and your adorable little dinosaur by clicking that link.

Press the spacebar to begin leaping over cacti as soon as you see that message.

Play a clone of Chrome Dino with alternate audio and visual themes, like this Super Mario Bros. theme, on an unofficial website:

Added bonus: Additional game-finding options

Perhaps the dino error message did not appear during your internet outage. Alternatively, you might not want to intentionally disable your wifi just so you can play the game.

So, to access Chrome's dev tools and stop your internet connection, press F12.

After you've clicked the "Network" button in the upper right corner, go down to the second row and search for the Online/Offline tab:

Finding the small down arrow next to "online" is a good place to start.

When you're not connected, go to the small down arrow and choose "Offline" (not "Online" as it should be).

After you've done that, the dinosaur will appear whenever you go to a website! To launch Dino, just exit the developer tools and press the space bar.
