What is Author in WordPress?

In WordPress, an author refers to a user who has the capability to write and publish posts on a website. An author is a user role in WordPress, which has a set of capabilities that determine what actions the user can perform on the website.

When a user creates a new post in WordPress, they are prompted to select an author for the post. This is the user who will be associated with the post as the person who wrote it. The author's name will then be displayed on the post, and the author's profile page will show all the posts that the user has written.

The Author role in WordPress has a set of default capabilities such as:

Create, edit and delete their own posts.
Upload files and images to the media library.
View and manage their own comments.
Edit their own profile.

Author. As the name suggests, users with the author role can write, edit, and publish their own posts. They can also delete their own posts, even if they are published. When writing posts, authors cannot create categories however they can choose from existing categories.
