It is hard to deny the fact that technology has changed our world. Whether that is making new connections through dating apps or playing eGames with people from all over the world, sharing thoughts and news on social media, or watching the Super Bowl highlights on your smartphone, the online world has exploded and changed things forever.
One of the major online success stories that technology has enabled is the world of streaming. Streaming tech has unquestionably changed this landscape, and helped the Super Bowl break the borders of America to become an increasingly global event.
Let’s take a look at just how technology has led us to this point. By 2030, the global streaming industry is projected to be worth around $330 billion dollars, a figure that tells us all we need to know in some respects. Worldwide trends indicate that this is a technology that is going to continue to grow exponentially for years to come. Year on year, Super Bowls alone are increasing these figures.
Since the early days of streaming, where the only companies truly harnessing the technology were dedicated streaming companies, it has now become a mainstream way to consume television shows, movies, sports events, and on-demand content. All this has been fuelled by consumer demand and expectations, which have moved with the technological advancements. Put simply, the younger digital generation now expects to be able to stream content where they want, when they want, and on whatever device they want. Demand continues to rise, and this drives success, as well as innovation for streaming companies, channels, providers, and individuals.
When it comes to technology, the combination of hardware and software is key. It is the software that helps create and deliver the content, whatever that might be. From online games to social media, chat apps to websites - behind all of these, and everything online, in fact, is the power of software. However, for global audiences and online users, the devices through which they can enjoy this online and digital entertainment matter just as much.
In terms of streaming, the number of households around the world that now have devices dedicated to providing this kind of on-demand content continues to grow. Take one look at some of the most recent media streaming stats and you will start to see just how many people use devices rather than traditional televisions, for example, to consume the vast majority of their television, movie, or online entertainment content. It’s not just the Super Bowl that is pulling people online - it’s everything.
Put in basic terms, worldwide watching is genuinely taking streaming to the top of the league in terms of content consumption, and both the software and hardware technology continue to adapt to this trend to take it even further.
