Interview with Indian Travel Blogger – Chetna Khetawat from The Vagabond Dreamer
1. Can you please tell us a little bit about yourself and your Blog?
Hey, I am Chetna Khetawat, a dreamer, traveler and a storyteller! I am a lazy fat ass traveler who loves to be on the roads but not a daredevil adventurist! I would not just jump off a cliff or spend an entire month in tents next to a river! Rather I would chose to go for an unplanned road-trip to the mountains and stay with locals at homestays or farmstays! While I like the pace of life, I also like to take a journey slow and imbibe a place within me!
In love with the mountains and almost married to coffee, I write by the alias "The Vagabond Dreamer" which also happens to be the name of my blog. Travelogues are more than just words or articles to me, I use them to share my perspective on any place with the world! When I travel, I don't just like to share the route maps and a list of things to do; I like to tell tales from the beautiful lands, tales about the little things I noticed, tales about the warm (sometimes cold) people I met in my journey and tales of things known and unknown!
2. What did you do before Blogging? What inspired you to start blogging?
I have always been keen on writing and sharing short stories and poems through different mediums. However was always stuck up in the trap to create a "Sustainable Career" and never got a chance to work and promote my blogs and articles until the universe had better plans for me!
Before taking up blogging seriously, I was working as an Event Manager with a startup at Guwahati. I met with an accident and was under house arrest for months, that is when I took up writing my travel tales on different platforms and received immense appreciation. And that I suppose was the calling of the soul and gradually I shifted from random travel platforms to my own website.
3. As a blogger, what are the challenges you face? How you overcome it?
As a travel blogger, funding travels!
As a blogger- Laziness! I am a moody writer and there are times I haven't written a single blog for months just because I don't feel like it.
4. What would you consider to be your biggest achievement in your journey so far as a Blogger?
The biggest achievement is when the followers praise your work!
I have had times when some of my followers have tagged me on Insta-quizzes stating they want to be like me!
There have been times when the "most popular travel bloggers" message saying they loved my particular blog!
And also, when people ask me help them design their trip "just the way I planned my trip, because they want to experience the same"!
Apart from that, I have also received a few nominations and awarded one of the top 100 solo travel bloggers globally! :)
5. Have you worked/collaborate with brands? If yes, name few brands you worked with
Yes. I have worked with a number of brands as an Influencer and also as a writer. Worked with a Data Recovery Company, a number of Travel Companies, Hotels, Homestays, Restaurants etc.
I wouldn't like to disclose the names as a matter of privacy. :)
6. What is your primary income source?
I work with an Ad agency as a Social Media and Content Executive. I also freelance Content and Social Media services.
7. Top 3 Blogging tools that you would recommend to your readers?
1. Yoast SEO for the better optimization and Meta Title and Description
2. Canva for designing your Cover Photos
3. Social Media Sites for promoting the blog
8. One piece of advice that you would like to share with all new bloggers?
My words might contradict what most people would suggest. I believe one must focus on quality and not quantity when it comes to writing! Writing a blog each day without being able to connect with the reader is no good. Rather write one a fortnight and put your heart into it, so the readers wait for you to post your next one!
9. Finally, what are your thoughts about IndiBlogHub?
Skillinfinity is a great platform for budding as well as experienced bloggers. I am relatively new here and already loving it. :)
