Dil Dosti Aur Dogs Review: A Heartwarming Idea That Falls Flat

Dil Dosti Aur Dogs Review

Four different love stories are told through the eyes of a dog, which is true love. As these dogs watch their owners go through breakups, relationships, and new starts, they bring them closer together in a way that no one expected. Love shows up in the strangest places, through tears, laughs, and wagging tails.

Movies about relationships between people and dogs can really touch people’s hearts, like Rakshit Shetty’s dramatic masterpiece 777 Charlie, which made people cry. This is what director Viral Shah tries to do with Dil Dosti Aur Dogs, which combines comedy, love, and lessons about life seen through the eyes of man’s best friend. The movie has some touching moments and a lot of cute dog characters, but it fails in the end because the story is weak and the actors aren’t very good.

Shah, Nisarg Vaidya, and Hardik Sangani co-wrote the script, which is made up of four different love stories. Each one shows how dogs can bring happiness and healing to people’s lives. The idea behind this story seems good on paper, but the way it’s told lacks emotional depth. While the movie tries to show how broken relationships and love can be complicated, its simple stories don’t leave a lasting impression.

Even though dogs add warmth to almost every scene, Dil Dosti Aur Dogs has trouble being real. There are a lot of clichés in the stories instead of real explorations of feelings. Kunaal Roy Kapur and Masumeh Makhija’s problems in their marriage touch on an important subject, but they aren’t explored enough for the story to really hit home. Sunny, played by Ehan Bhat, is not only badly written, but also badly acted, which makes his story arc very confusing. There isn’t much chemistry between him and Tridha Choudhury in their scenes together, and his girlfriend’s strange, evil monologue doesn’t fit in, which makes the emotional effect even lower. However, Tridha gives a good performance.

In fact, the performances don’t do much to improve the weak writing. There are actors like Sharad Kelkar and Neena Gupta who really care about their parts, but the characters as a whole are forgettable. Their stories aren’t fully explored, which makes it hard for viewers to connect with them emotionally.

With only 101 minutes, Dil Dosti Aur Dogs could have been a light, happy movie about love, friendship, and the bond between people and their dogs. But the story isn’t very good, the characters don’t grow much, and the acting isn’t very good, making it frustrating to watch. The only real stars? The dogs—they truly make an otherwise dull experience fun.

If you only want to watch it for the cute dogs, this one is a failure.
