IAS Lokesh Jangid is quite a familiar name, he is from the 2014 batch and was serving as the District Collector of Sheopur and recently got appointed as the new Collector of Niwari district. Throughout his career, he has been committed to justice and serving public services which make him a notable figure in the administrative landscape. His unique and innovative approaches have addressed immediate societal issues and fostered long-term growth.
Lokesh Kumar Jangid is a 2014-batch IAS officer from Madhya Pradesh, who has carved a niche for himself as a fearless leader. Throughout his career, he has done some impactful roles. His dedication to serving the public is evident through his various initiatives to boost educational outcomes, promote health awareness, etc.
Coming from a simple family background, Lokesh was good at academics and other extra-curricular activities right from school time. He has won various awards and has represented the state at the national level in science fairs. He did engineering and post that got selected in TCS (Tata Consultancy Services) when he was in the third year during campus placement. However, he wasn’t keen on the corporate world and started his preparation for UPSC. Later in 2009, he got All India Rank 910 in UPSC that too in first attempt.
One of the most standout projects of Lokesh is "Padho Vijaypur", which was launched in collaboration with the Pratham organization. This program focused on improving fundamental literacy among kids in the Sheopur district. The initiative aimed to address the educational differences that were aggravated by the COVID-19 pandemic, resulting in disrupted learning for many students. This program enhanced community involvement by training local volunteers and educators to take responsibility for children's education. Later, the Madhya Pradesh government implemented this initiative across all the districts of the state and named it "Dakshata Unnayan".
During the COVID-19 pandemic, IAS Lokesh Kumar Jangid took proactive measures to address health crises within his jurisdiction. He implemented various health awareness campaigns to inform residents about preventive measures and vaccinations.
He worked as an Additional Collector in the Badwani district and tackled the coronavirus crisis at the earliest – arranging oxygen, setting up oxygen plants, converting private hospitals into COVID care centers, and much more.
His continuous efforts advocated for better healthcare facilities in rural areas and ensured that basic and necessary services reached underserved populations.
Lokesh has been instrumental in launching the programs that aimed to improve women's participation in local governance and economic activities. He conducted numerous workshops to provide women with vocational training and allowed them to become financially independent. This ultimately helped to foster a new generation of female leaders who can speak and advocate for their rights and interests.
His initiative of empowering women leads to broader social changes – improved family health and education outcomes.
