Why Motion Transfer Became the Most-Used Tool in My Content Workflow
Six months ago, if you had told me the most frequently used tool in my production workflow would be something I had never heard of, I would have been skeptical. I have been producing digital content for four years. My toolkit was established. Photoshop for graphics, Premiere for editing, Canva for quick social assets. Everything had its place.

Finding the right approach
The initial search was discouraging. After Effects has a learning curve measured in months. Hiring a freelance animator would cost more than the client's entire monthly content budget. What causes problems: rapid camera panning, hard cuts between different shots, limbs that disappear behind the body, and very fast or erratic movements. These issues are all avoidable by being intentional about how reference clips are filmed. A phone on a tripod in a well-lit room, filming a single continuous motion—that is the recipe.
Character Orientation has two modes. Image-based (up to ten seconds) sets the character's facing direction from a static image and is stable and predictable. Video-based (up to thirty seconds) allows the character to naturally turn or change direction. I default to image-based for most commercial work and switch to video-based only when the motion involves a direction change.
The types of content this enables
The obvious use case is social media character content—animated mascots for Reels, Shorts, and TikTok. But the applications I have been most surprised by are adjacent ones.
A teacher I work with uses it to create animated historical figure presentations for her classroom.
