One of the most important questions that people have is to choose between a Scott mountain bike or a Scott road bike. Here, in this article, you will get to know the main differences between the both. Buying a bike is not as easy as riding one because you have to consider multiple things when buying a bike.
So, to decide between both bikes, the first question that you have to ask yourself is what kind of riding you wish to do.
If you want to enjoy road cycling on smooth roads present in the country lanes around you then of course, a Scott road bike is a great idea to buy on the other hand if you want to explore nature away from the city’s life to create a connection with the nature then Scott MTB is the way you should go.
What is the difference between these two types of bikes?
Common components are:
• Two wheels: Generally, one type of bike comes with the skinny tyres while the other comes with the fat tyres.
• Handlebars: Drop vs straight and wide handlebars
• Bike frames: One with an aerodynamic and lightweight frame while one comes with an upright and stable bike frame.
So, let’s get to know the purpose of a road bike
Road bikes are specifically designed to ride on paved and smooth surfaces. They are scantily clad and light in weight. Some of the surfaces where you can ride a road bike are alpine passes, countryside lands, cycle paths and other local roads. Speed, distance and performance are some of the main qualities of the road bikes. Their geometry, accessories and components are specifically created for weight and speed.
Geometry of road bike
For road riders, speed is their number one priority therefore their frames are designed to be aerodynamic. These bikes slice through the air providing a lot of power to the cycle enhancing speed and performance. The top tube is longer on road bike and the handlebars are further offset. One gets a stretched-out riding position on these bikes with their designs.
Now, let’s discuss the purpose of a mountain bike
These bikes are specifically designed to ride on rocky single tracks and muddy trails. Everything in between present on the mountains are perfect surfaces for these cycles. They come with the extra grip therefore you will feel slow on the smooth surfaces when you ride these on smooth roads or normal roads. With the flat handlebars, wide and suspension system they provide enhanced comfort and stability to the rider when riding on difficult paths.
Geometry of mountain bike
These bikes are designed with short tubes providing a more upright position to the rider when riding the bike. It comes with less aerodynamics which slows down the speed of the rider. These bikes provide much stability and control on rough roads or terrains. With their design, you will be able to handle these better when you have a lower center of gravity on rough surfaces.
Now, it depends on you which one you choose according to your riding purpose.
