MS-DOS is a command-line based operating system also called CLI (Command Line Interface) operating system, which is completely user dependent. This means that nothing will work without the user's command. When the user gives him the command to open the file, only then the file will open. And whatever commands will be given to that computer, they will all be in text form.

No work of DOS operating system can be done without commands and hence many commands have to be remembered to work on such computer. Sometimes the commands become so big that it is not easy for everyone to remember such big commands.

After the CLI (Command Line Interface) OS, the first GUI (Graphical User Interface) OS came in 1995 and that was the 'Windows95' operating system which was from Microsoft itself.
