Microsoft launched the ASP.NET WebForms Model to provide a RAD (Rapid Application Development) environment for web application development. Because the ASP.NET Web Form Model was very useful to VB programmers of the time, and the features that were added to ASP.NET for RAD, they serve as the basis for today's web programming model. Under this Web Forms programming model, three important features were originally developed as Page Postbacks, View State, and Server Control.
