Tracks on Compact Disks are Spiral and Flat. This is a type of read-only memory. Laser technology is used to encode the data on the CD. The encoding of the data present in the CD is done with the help of laser beam.

Another special type of device is used to write data on CD, which is called CD-Writer. With this, the data stored on the CD can also be read.

The invention of the CD completely eliminated the cassette. A standard CD can store up to 700 MB of data. The sensor in the CD drive reads the reflected light from the dot of the CD. And creates the image in our device.
