What is desktop

Desktop is the primary user interface of the computer. When you boot your computer, the desktop is displayed when the startup process is complete. This includes the desktop background (or wallpaper) and icons for files and folders that you may have saved on the desktop. The Windows desktop includes a task bar, which by default is located at the bottom of the screen. In Mac OS X, the desktop includes the menu bar at the top of the screen and the Dock at the bottom.
