The full form of JPEG is Joint Photographic Expert Group, it is the most widely used image format.

It uses lossy compression. When you save an image in JPEG format, it eliminates some of the image information from it so that the size of the image is reduced.

JPEG has 24 bit color per pixel and supports 16 million colors.

Compressing the image reduces the file size.

This format is mostly used for photography and it is used in almost all digital cameras.
