It is the percentage that represents the number of times a target keyword appears, depending on the number of words on the page. Keyword density is the percentage of times a keyword or phrase appears on a web page compared to the total number of words on that page. It is often used as a metric to determine the relevance of a web page for a specific keyword. In search engine optimization (SEO), it is believed that a higher keyword density can help increase a page's ranking for that keyword.

However, excessive use of a keyword, known as "keyword stuffing," can result in a search engine penalizing or even banning the page. The optimal keyword density for good SEO practice is generally considered to be between 1-2%. It is important to keep in mind that keyword density is just one of many factors that search engines use to rank pages and that content quality and relevance to the user are much more important considerations.
