What is ALU in computer processor

: It performs all arithmetic calculations, ALU chip is a smart part of CPU which performs complete arithmetic and logic operations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. It also reads logic commands such as OR, AND and NOT, by sending instructions to the control unit ALU to tell it to act. The ALU takes data from registers to perform the tasks assigned by the control unit. The ALU is the last stage of processing in the chip.
