What is the difference between web hosting and domain

Domain name and web hosting are two different things. But there are many companies that sell both domain and hosting. For example – GoDaddy, it is the largest domain registrar in the world, but it also provides hosting facility apart from domain.

And this is also one of the reasons why newcomers often confuse between web hosting and domain.

If we put in simple words:
“A domain name is like your home address; Whereas web hosting, the rooms in your house are where you keep your stuff.”

Here the address is the domain name which is the address of your website and computer hard disk, memory etc. are used for storage which is called web hosting.
